General Motors gains after raising annual pre-tax profit view, upbeat Q3

** GM posts Q3 adj. earnings of $2.96 per share, beating analysts' estimates of $2.43 - LSEG data
** Company lifts annual pre-tax profit forecast to between $14 bln and $15 bln vs $13 bln to $15 bln it had projected in July
** Q3 revenue stood at $48.8 bln, beating Wall Street's expectation of $44.6 bln
** GM's self-driving taxi unit, Cruise, recorded an operating loss of $400 mln in Q3, smaller than the $700 mln loss a year ago
** Up to last close, GM had risen ~36% compared with a gain of ~23% in S&P 500 index .SPX this year
